
Dr. Sheldon has served in leadership roles in many dental, civic, and religious organizations. He was the Chairman of the dental department at Holmes Regional Medical Center. He has chaired the Brevard Study Club since 1995, bringing dental continuing education to dentists in Brevard County. He is an associate clinical professor in the graduate department of periodontology at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he helps train future periodontists.
Long an innovator in his dental practice, Dr. Sheldon was the first dentist in central Florida to utilize computer-guided surgery for dental implant placement. He also was the first to use the dental endoscope to effectively assist in non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease. These innovations have led to the Solid Bite concept, providing beautiful, functional, and efficient restoration of previously diseased mouths.
Dr. Sheldon has long been featured in media to include his television show on health care for over 8 years. He co-hosted a radio program for two years. Currently, he is a featured guest on Focus on Seniors on WMEL radio. He is also a regular contributor to the column, Focus on Seniors, in the Health Section of the Thursday Florida Today newspaper. His topics range from dental care to overall health care. He also speaks to civic groups on communication, ethics and human rights and is the Central Florida director of Foundation for a Drug Free World, which provides drug prevention education to teens. Dr. Sheldon is Vice President of Helping Seniors of Brevard County, a media and fundraising organization for charities that service the elder population of our county.
Dr. Sheldon's awards include a proclamation from the city of Melbourne for his community service and the Stars of the Space Coast award for Leadership in Medicine from the Space Coast chapter of the American Red Cross.
